Established in 2014, MacLean Surveying is Cape Breton's newest company providing land surveying services in the local area. The young, energetic staff is highly trained in the newest surveying equipment and software programs to complete your project on time.

Rodney Maclean

Owner / Surveyor

Born and raised in Millville, Cape Breton, Rodney's family originates from the Iona Peninsula. He graduated from St. F.X. University in Antigonish with a Business Administration degree. He then attended the Centre of Geographic Sciences in Lawrencetown to begin his land surveying training. Rodney has been working in the land surveying industry for over 10 years and has worked on hundreds of land surveys throughout Cape Breton Island. In 2013 Rodney received his Nova Scotia Land Surveyors Certificate. With expertise in the latest GPS and Mapping technologies, Rodney is committed to constantly staying on top of the latest developments in the land surveying industry.

Brent Mackenzie

Survey Technician

Hailing from Big Beach, Cape Breton, Brent is a graduate from the the University of New Brunswick from the Bachelor of Geomatics program and has also completed the Survey Technician and Geomatics Engineering Technologist programs during his time at the Centre of Geographic Sciences in Lawrencetown, NS. . He is currently working on his NSLS commission with hopes of completing it in 2018. Brent’s work ethic and genuine love for the outdoors has brought him to where he is today. Whether the job is cutting out a line for a wood lot, or staking out grades for new road construction, Brent’s technical knowledge and resourcefulness is key to the satisfaction of MacLean Surveying’s clients.

George Little

Survey Technician

George was born and raised in Cape Breton. He stated out his life in Port Hood and then moved to Port Hawkesbury. In 2009 he moved to Stewartdale, just 4km from Whycocomagh where he lives to this day. George's background started after Graduating from the College of Geographical Sciences ( COGS ) in 1989 with a degree in surveying. After he graduated he was employed with Georgia Pacific as a surveyor in the gypsum mine here in Cape Breton and was with that site for 27 years. He then started with MacLean Surveying in 2017 as a land surveyor. George loves playing basketball, badminton and hockey. He also loves working on his own cars in his spare time to insure his vehicles are kept in tip-top shape. If hes not working on his cars he can be found working on his carpentry skills.

Rory Roach

Survey Technician

Born in British Columbia and making the move across Canada as a child, Rory found his permanent home in Cole Harbour, N.S. While Attending the Centre of Geographic Sciences and getting his diploma for Geomatics Engineering Technologist. Currently he is enrolled in the Engineering program at the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton with 1 year left. He loves to play the guitar and write music in his spare time as well as video games.

George Ratchford

Business Administration

Born in Cheticamp and raised in Sydney, George is a first year student of the Business Administration program located at Marconi Campus at NSCC. With graduation only one year away he is looking forward to a career in the Business Management field. He loves sports and taking landscape and portrait photography. In his spare time you can find him at a waterfall with his camera or playing video games.
